#Placental-#maturation-

☆Important of placenta maturation.

Examination of placenta for maturation is important because if it is mature will pass out normally after delivery. 👉 But if placenta is immature will not pass normally after delivery and will remains in uterus(RPOC),and will expulsed by the surgical instruments through the cervix,

👉as the cervix remains opened nearly up to 30minuts after delivery.

Maturation of placenta can be detected through a method named Grading method;

It is starts from Grade, 0, and ends on Grade, 3.

#Grade-O; (14-32weeks)-

The placenta lies in Grade O from 14 up to 32 of pregnancy. In this Grade placenta will homogenous from one end to the other end. The outer surface which is chorionic plate appears echogenic.

in this stage the attachment of the placenta to the uterine wall is very strong because the fetus at this stage needs maximum blood supply.

#Grade-1; (32-34weeks)-

The placenta lies in Grade-I, from 32 to 34 weeks of pregnancy this is characterized by indentation/hollows of the chorionic plate and small intervals.

#Grade-II ;( 34-36weeks)-

The placenta lies in this grade from 34 to 36 weeks, and it is characterized by holes formation and placenta divided in to 4-8 segments/parts. Now the placental attachment to the uterine wall becomes weak.

#Grade-III;

After 36 weeks many changes takes place in the placenta. At this stage the placenta will seen in 4-8 separate segments. The attachment of the placenta to the uterine wall becomes weaker and the blood supply to the fetus also decreases. And this is known as Grade-III maturation of placenta.
