Dysmenorrhea, cuases,signs/symptoms,investigations,treatment

DYSMENORRHEA

Painfull menstruation is called dysmenorrhea.

CAUSES

1- Immaturity of uterus.

2- Stenosis of cervix.

3- Hormonal immbalance.

4- Stress.

5- Early puberty.

SiGNS/SYMPTOMS

(1) pain at the pelvic region which starts several hrs prior to the onset of menstruation and continour for 1-3days.

(2) There may associated nausea and vomiting.

MANAGEMENT

1- NSAIDs is the ist choice e.g piroxicam,diclofenac,naproxen etc

2- combination of estrogen and progesteron is the 2nd choice.
